Poetry of Prayer
11-26-2015
It is in the quite hours after the
world has gone to sleep that I hear your voice.
It is when I have quieted my own voices
within that I can truly hear you speak.
In the dark, alone, I listen.
Silence fills my mind.
The clock tics, seconds pass.
You are here, You are present in this
moment.
I lower my head, my heart, ashamed of
my sins, of my wayward behavior.
Tears strain at the surface, trying to
flood over my heart and into my eyes.
And I wait, alone, in the darkness.
You forgive, You forget so I linger on
this reality.
You do not remember my wrongs, You do
not hold a grudge.
But you do hold my shattered tender
heart in Your nail scared hands.
Tears flow like rain from my heart,
tears drip down my face.
Sorrow and pain fill my soul, but You
heal+.
In the silence when I am alone You hold
me.
How I need Your tender forgiving love.
I need You more then my lungs need
breath.
You replace my fear with trust in You.
I rest in Your ever present peace*.
+Matthew 9:21-22for she was saying to
herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will get well."
But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage;
your faith has made you well."
*John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my
peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let
your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid
