1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Weekly Report 1/25 -1/29 2010

I've been trying to get the boys to do more school work on their own. We tried the list approach but it just didn't seem to work well. So here's what I came up with...

Each child picked a color to represent themselves. The blue is Jo Bean's, red is Moca's, green is Z-trains, and yellow is Sugar Plum's (because she has to have what the boys have). Each has 3 smaller boards containing their "agenda's".

  • The Agenda boards are made from card-stock.
  • I folded up one end slightly smaller then my Bible card
  • Stapled twice on each side and adhered it to a larger poster board
  • I used sticker tabs (what I had on hand) to make the list.
  • This way they stand out better.
This board has 8 assignments:
Bible, Math, Latin-Logic, Seat Work, Music- Art,
Memory Work, Reading and History.
Which corresponds with...

A Bag with a tag.

This is Jo Bean's 4 Seat Work bag.

This is Jo Bean's Agenda Book.
  • I used 8 foam crowns
  • hole punch
  • three pieces of twine
  • velcro dots and
  • bulletin board decorations

(in retrospect I think laminated card-stock would have been a better choice the glue tends to not stick as well on the foam)

The Lamb is our Chore Chart.
I switch them up each day
so that they are doing them
in a different order each day
and of course the dove
really helps them want to do their
Lambs quickly...

Because the doves are fun time...
sort of directed play time.
Things I want the children to learn and do
but often find
slipping through the cracks
because of the academics.

Things like:
  • beading
  • sewing
  • sand play
  • lego construction

We even have...
some fun art
crafts and
our lapbooking stuff
tucked in these small boxes...
